ANNE'S RAVES and HOWLS

anne07.jpg.jpg

Welcome!

I'm  Anne Morin,

from Portland, Oregon, USA.
This site describes me, who I am,
and some of the things I'm into,
for pleasure and/or for treasure.

For those of you who are here
because you might be interested
in having me
SUBSTITUTE TEACH
in your classroom, this site should give you an idea of
what I'm about, but for specific information,
click on the
or - because I'm known as the Movie Sub -
if you plan to be away for more than one day,
check out the list of movie pics
(relevant for middle school and up)
I would love to share
(curriculum included, if you like)
including popcorn for all!
or
I am also known as the Poetry Sub
and have days of curriculum relating to poetry
that kids (middle school - up) seem to enjoy!
or
You can learn more about me as a person
by clicking on the

Know that I would be happy to serve as a
TUTOR
for adults or youngsters with special English
or English as a Second Language needs.
(I could also help with other areas of study.)
.

i WRITE.
You can find my rather prolonged attempt
at writing a novel at
I'm still working on it!

I read a great deal of poetry, and I write a modicum of poetry;
some of these (my own and favorites written by others)
have been posted
on my Writer/Editor Page.
.

I like creating
 WEB PAGES.

You can find a collection of horse poems
I've gleaned from many sources over the years
for my daughter, Nico Wind,
on the web page I created
(where you will also find at least one poem I've written).

Information about other pages I've created or
would be happy to create for you
can be found by checking the links below.

(I must add that one of my latest attempts to create a webpage
that is informative and also fun to look at and listen to
is the one I worked on for my 50th high school class reunion
that took place in Bend, Oregon, last September.
You can enjoy the fun by clicking on this link:
Go, Lava Bears!

Right now, I am working on the website for
the JUNE KEY DELTA HOUSE,
a dream of Portland's chapter of
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
The community center is a
Living Building,
a "green" building project,
developed by African American women
who belong to Delta Sigma Thi Sorority.
This building will provide a community center
that sustains the needs of the
multi-cultural neighborhood it serves,
encouraging sound and healthy
social, educational, artistic, economic
and environmental
development and awareness.

THE JIM PEPPER ARTS FESTIVAL
that WAS supposed to have
to taken place in Portland (and surrounds) last year, I am very sorry to say,
has been CANCELED for the time being.
For more information, go to
or
jimpepperhouse.blogspot.com.

I also really enjoy creating
 YouTube slideshows
that sometimes include music
and portray a variety of  special events
that might appear on some of my sites,
two of which are:
June Key Delta Community Center Demonstration Garden:

Joanne Shenandoah Mill-Luck Salmon Celebration
.

I have also served as an
ARTISTS'
REPRESENTATIVE.
Some of my clients, for whom I've created web pages, include:

My "oldest" webpage,  that of my dear old friend, Ed Edmo, at http://ededmo.tripod.com.

Foster (K'ona) Kalama (Native Artist, Storyteller, Flutist)

Nico Wind Cordova's Karaoke Pony page

and a few others
noted on the Artists' Rep Page.

Finally, I am an experienced

CHAP BOOK PUBLISHER!

Maybe you have a group of
fabulous poems you've written
and would like to see them
collected in book form.
I can help you with the process
of deciding which poems to include,
which font(s), paper stock, colors,
forms, etc., you wish to use,
and I will produce the numbers of
chap books you think you'll need.
You can find some examples
of chap books I've produced
on the Publish Yours! Page.
I look forward to facilitating
your debut!
So you'll know, I recently completed
a 400+ page book
for a reasonable price!
It looks great!

The outstanding sound you hear on this site is provided (with her permission) by Joanne Shenandoah on her CD, Matriarch: Iroquois Women's SongsJoanne is a personal friend and greatly admired custodian of the music and culture of her tribe.
The collection of recordings on the CD from which comes this lovely song "Kahawi'tha" ("She Carries It Along"), dedicated to Joanne's very special daughter, Leah, was also dedicated to the Shenandoah family and all lifegivers of Mother Earth.
What I especially appreciate about this work by Joanne is that her people, the Haudenosaunee, believe " . . . the Earth is a living organism with its own form of consciousness.
They feel by holding women in high esteem they are also paying homage to Mother Earth."

You can find out more about Joanne Shenandoah at her website:  http://www.joanneshenandoah.com.
